Let the weekend start a little early by attending the Minturn Summer Concert Series on Thursday nights. Since 2011, Minturn residents, surrounding community members and visitors alike have gathered at the Little Beach Amphitheater and Park to listen to local bands and touring acts. The free performances run from 6-8 p.m. on Thursdays through Aug. 28 and the event is produced by the Minturn Community Fund.
“I started the series in 2011 at the request of then-town planner Chris Cerimele as well as Matt Sprecher from Minturn Anglers,” said Terry Armistead, who is also part of Turntable Revue, a popular local band in Eagle County. “That year, it was sponsored by all Minturn local businesses and on a very small budget. I joined forces and became a board member of the Minturn Community Fund the following year and soon the town of Minturn became our biggest sponsor, which continues today.”

Armistead researches which bands other music venues in the county are booking and tries to be unique. She looks for various genres like rock, country, bluegrass and more. She also said she takes requests for bands.
“The best is when a local suggests a band and I’m able to book them in that slot. Locals have a direct line to me, and if I can make it happen, I will,” Armistead said.

“The Minturn Summer Concert Series is more than just music, it’s a celebration of what makes our town special,” said Cindy Krieg, economic development and deputy clerk for the town of Minturn. “On Thursday evenings, neighbors become friends, local businesses come alive and Little Beach Park transforms into a vibrant gathering place. In a fast-paced world, these concerts offer something increasingly rare: a chance to slow down, connect and enjoy shared moments with familiar faces and new ones, too.”

Support Local Journalism

The Minturn Community Fund’s mission is to connect people, enhance lives and preserve the culture of Minturn. Since its inception in 1996, the Minturn Community Fund has raised funds to support the town and bring some creative events to residents and visitors. Its efforts have started not only the summer concert series but also grants for projects like Radio Free Minturn, Little Beach Park & Amphitheater, Minturn Community Gardens and children’s theater programs.
“I would hike up to Lionshead Rock, take the kids to the bike park and grab food from one of the many restaurants in town” Armistead said. “Kirby Cosmo’s is close by or Sunrise Minturn. Then bring your low chairs for some live music and close it out with some whiskey at The Wee Dram or a nightcap at the Saloon.”
Parking is available at the venue, but biking, walking and carpooling will get you there. You’ll see a lot of golf carts at the venue, too, as Minturn has heavy golf cart usage.
“These concerts are the heartbeat of summer in Minturn, a time to gather, reconnect and remember why we love where we live,” Krieg said. To learn more, go to .
