The Bravo! Vail Music Festival season is starting to wind down, but before we say goodbye to the season, we welcome back the New York Philharmonic. Guest conductor Santtu-Mattias Rouvali returns to lead the New York Philharmonic in two incredible programs on Saturday and Sunday, including Strauss’ “Four Last Songs,” Sibelius Symphony No. 5, and Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Scheherazade.”

“Some pieces of music belong on every person’s “must-hear” list. Richard Strauss’s “Four Last Songs,” written in 1948, is one of the most exquisite and touching works ever written, and remarkably, it has never been performed here at Bravo! Vail,” said Anne-Marie McDermott, artistic director of Bravo! Vail Music Festival. “Hearing them sung by soprano Miah Persson with the incredible New York Philharmonic is simply a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Fun fact: Rouvali is an avid fisherman and when he debuted with Bravo! Vail last year, he brought his fishing pole and fished behind The Amp after the concerts.
