Get ready to hear some amazing bands at some pretty unique venues this weekend during Vail Summer Sessions, a free concert weekend that brings you to the base and the top of Vail Mountain. After the popular Eagle’s Nest Rooftop concerts this winter, the music will be happening again at 10,350-plus above sea level on Friday and Sunday. On Saturday, settle in on the lawn near the base of Gondola One and take in a show after your day’s activities. The musical lineup includes:

Friday – Eagle’s Nest Rooftop: 2:30-5 p.m.

  • Magoo – This four-piece bluegrass band out of Denver has won numerous contests including taking first place at the 2024 Ullrgrass Competition in Golden and second place at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival’s band competition.
  • Blue Ox Boys – Vail’s own bluegrass band is comprised of five locals who came together after an open mic night but have played Vail’s popular Springfree Bluegrass festival and deliver a high energy show.

Saturday – Gondola One Yard: 5-7:30 p.m.

  • Evan Honer – Going from college student to label owner in only a few short years, Honer has quite a following and shares thoughtful insights of his life with his audience through his music.
  • Wood Belly – The five-piece Colorado Bluegrass band has played all sorts of festivals such as Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Winter Wondergrass, the Durango Bluegrass Meltdown, Ogden Music Festival and more.
Evan Honer is carving a new path as a 100% independent artist with his own independent label, Cloverdale Records.

Sunday – Eagle’s Nest Rooftop: 1:45-4 p.m.

  • Byrne – He may be a solo act, but Byrne has enough energy to fill a full band. His tunes will appeal to many with his combination of folk, pop and alternative genres. His music has a feel-good, optimistic vibe to it and what his Instagram calls “pop-timism”
  • Moonstone Quill – Summit County’s Moonstone Quill has made plenty of trips over Vail Pass to play shows in Eagle County. This foursome blends bluegrass, rock, country and Americana into its shows.

The Vail Summer Sessions concerts are sponsored by Toyota, which will have tents with fun activities at the base of Gondola One and the Eagle Bahn Gondola Friday-Sunday starting at 9:30 a.m.
